At the heart of every Syrian meal sits a loaf of bread—a symbol of dignity and simplicity. Despite ongoing crises, bread remains an essential element of daily life. However, economic hardships have created barriers for Syrian families struggling each day to provide for themselves.
Thousands across Syria are finding it increasingly difficult to obtain their daily bread. In urban areas, many cannot afford bread at market prices. In rural areas and camps, the bread crisis is even more severe due to limited flour and the distance from bakeries. Here lies the importance of our “Securing Bread for the Needy” project, which aims to provide daily, practical assistance to thousands of families in need
Who are the Needy?
Syrian Christians in the USA have identified several high-risk groups in Syria and made helping to meet their most immediate needs our priority. Many families who have lost their primary breadwinners are now living in extreme poverty and are struggling just to survive. The violence in Syria has resulted in many injuries, leaving some parents disabled without any source of income because they are unable to work. The challenges they face in their daily lives can be overwhelming. In addition, many elderly individuals have lost their families, leaving them without anyone to care for them as they age or provide for their daily needs.
Thanks to your contributions, we have partnered with local bakeries—whenever possible—to deliver daily bread supplies directly to the neediest and most vulnerable Syrians. We have begun in the Tel Kalakh camp, with plans to continue expanding our reach. Our goal is to create a sustainable program that will provide for their daily needs without interruption with the help of your generous donations.
