As part of the ongoing efforts of the Syrian Christians in the United States organization to support Christians and non-Christians in Syria, we have launched an exceptional project aimed at distributing direct financial aid to needy families.
Nevertheless, our organization believes in the advice that says: “Don’t give the hungry a fish; rather, provide them with the means to catch one,” because financing small projects should go beyond simply providing a temporary meal. This approach calls for empowering individuals and equipping them with the skills and tools necessary to achieve sustainable self-sufficiency.
However, urgent economic circumstances often require us to respond quickly to emergency situations that threaten the survival of those struggling to afford necessities in their original homes. Motivated by its belief that alleviating pressures might deter some of the needy from considering migration or displacement, our organization has initiated this project.
Sadly, the ongoing political situation and the prolonged war has pushed some families below the poverty line. Among them are Christian families, a minority sect that is suffering from the failed economy as well. With increasing poverty rates and rising living costs, it has become necessary to support the Christian community to ensure their resilience and stability in their locations, which is crucial for preserving Syria’s social and cultural diversity and maintaining the cohesive societal harmony that has existed for thousands of years.

Main Goals of the Project
By providing direct financial assistance to Christian families facing economic hardships, Syrian Christians for Peace hopes to reduce the phenomenon of migration and displacement from their cities and villages which has been steadily increasing with the prolonged crisis. We hope that by encouraging the Christian community to stay rooted in their heritage and traditions in Syria, we can curb the ongoing decline in the number of Christians within the country.
In its first phase, the project targets Christian families in areas most affected by the crisis, with priority given to families who have lost their breadwinners or those living below the poverty line. It is important to emphasize that this project is not limited to Christians alone but extends beyond sectarian boundaries to include the most impoverished cases among Syrians, regardless of their religious and ethnic affiliations.
In order to effectively identify the neediest families our organization works in collaboration with local churches and civil society organizations to compile a detailed study of living conditions and a comprehensive assessment of critical needs. After identifying potential beneficiaries, financial aid is distributed according to a well-planned mechanism that ensures direct, transparent, and rapid delivery of assistance.
To ensure accountability and identify aspects of the program that need improvement, the organization follows up with beneficiary families in order to better assess the impact of the financial support and the extent to which the project achieves its objectives.
By providing support from outside the country we hope to strengthen bonds within the Christian community and provide a model for social solidarity within Syria.
How Can You Help?
Financial support from the Syrian Christian community in the United States and abroad, along with international donors, forms the backbone of this project. The organization calls on everyone to participate in providing assistance and contribute to strengthening the resilience of the Christian community in Syria.
The financial aid distribution project by Syrian Christians in the United States aspires to provide a significant step in addressing the challenges faced by the Christian community in Syria. The project aims not only to provide material support but also to reinforce hope and the determination to stay and continue living on the land of their ancestors, no matter the circumstances.
